Dear Prospective Fellow:
Thank you for your interest in the Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. The Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine Fellowship Program offers a unique sports medicine graduate training experience. We offer two types of academic sports health fellowship: orthopaedic surgery and primary care sports medicine (PCSM).
Here, you train with world-renowned PCSM and orthopaedic sports medicine specialists. Our orthopaedic surgery department is ranked consistently amongst the top programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, and Cleveland Clinic overall consistently ranks among the top five hospitals in America.
Our sports surgical expertise includes arthroscopic and complex reconstructive surgery of the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. Additionally, fellows have a dedicated pediatric and adolescent sports medicine experience that stresses operative and non-operative management of sports medicine conditions. Fellows study with our experts performing the latest surgical techniques, including minimally invasive surgery, complex ligamentous reconstruction, cartilage and meniscal transplantation, and various joint preservation surgeries.
Our primary care sports medicine physicians are dedicated to the comprehensive care of athletes and active individuals. Their scope of care includes diagnosing and managing acute injuries, musculoskeletal conditions and illnesses (chronic and acute) that can potentially affect performance. Primary Care Sports Medicine fellows spend time rotating with Primary Care Sports Medicine physicians, Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Physicians, selected specialty trained orthopaedic surgeons, adult and pediatric cardiologists, concussion specialists, pulmonologists and musculoskeletal radiologists - with an emphasis on ultrasound.
We provide team care for professional, collegiate and high school athletic programs, giving fellows a depth of experience in caring for athletes at all performance levels.
Once a fellow, you are always part of the program, and Cleveland Clinic is a leader in clinical outcomes research and multicenter clinical studies, including MOON (Multicenter Orthopaedic Outcomes Network). In addition, we partner with the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Biomechanics Department, conduct concussion studies and have the flexibility to pursue personal research objectives.
Throughout this brochure, we've highlighted the experiences of some past alumni of our fellowship program to illustrate the opportunity that awaits you here.
If this excites you, we encourage you to apply. Thank you for your interest, and good luck!
